Annette Kimitei has over 20 years’ experience in the leadership of private security in East Africa and specifically Kenya. She is currently Managing Director of one of the major security suppliers and has been active in security associations including Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) where she has led the case for improved conditions, higher standards and greater diversity (amongst other things) in the security sector. Annette is a multi-award winner including as an individual, an OSPA for ‘Outstanding Security Director’, and for her company, ‘Outstanding Contract Security Company’.

Bill Fox is internationally renowned for his knowledge and expertise in violence risk reduction and behaviour management, and in particular for having directed learning and innovation in this field for the past three decades. He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Maybo a company he started 28 years ago which focusses on workplace conflict and violence reduction. Bill is also an inspiration behind the newly launched Workplace Violence Reduction Awards (WVRAs).

Bill Tenney started work earlier this year as the new CEO of ASIS International. Bob Martin has over 35 years’ experience in the Petrochemical industry, and worked in a diverse range of business operational environments before establishing a specialism in security. Professor Gloria Laycock is one of the world’s leading scholars on crime prevention. Joanna Shapland is a Professor of Criminology at the University of Sheffield having previously been a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford where she directed the first major study of victims, an interest she continues to this day and is the Executive Editor of the International Review of Victimology. Alongside this she has undertaken pioneering research in a range of areas including business crime, restorative justice, and desistance and is currently engaged in research on the offending careers - over 14 years - of persistent offenders. Luke Gough is a recruiter and career coach particularly in the dynamic field of cybersecurity. He runs a popular YouTube channel, and newsletter called The Career Compass, where he shares expert advice on job hunting, interviews, and career growth. Luke is the Regional Advisor for the Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) in Australia and New Zealand.

Mike Croll’s early career included working as an Army Bomb Disposal Officer and a Counter Terrorist Search Advisor. Later he was Head of Overseas Security at the FCO, and then held a similar appointment with the EU providing security for European diplomats, before becoming Director of Operations at the UN Department of Safety and Security. After several years in commercial and NGO security, he is now a Senior Lecturer in Security, Risk and Resilience.  

Professor Mike Levi has an international reputation for excellence in researching economic crime which includes money laundering, corruption, cybercrimes, fraud, transnational organised crime and white-collar crimes.  This is reflected in recent major lifetime achievement awards from the British, American and European Societies of Criminology, the Al Thani Rule of Law Committee/UNODC Corruption Research and Education prize and the Tackling Economic Crime Awards.

He has served in a range of advisory roles both internationally (with the European Commission and Parliament, Europol, Council of Europe, UN and World Economic Forum) and nationally (with the UK Home Office and Cabinet Office, and with the Crime Statistics Advisory Committee). He has been a prolific publisher and contributor to debates on how best to tackle frauds and related offences. He has received a range of major lifetime achievement awards including from the Tackling Economic Crime Awards.

Nick Dynon is a licensed security consultant based in New Zealand who works for one of the country’s leading integrators. He has a government background in immigration and border security; has served as a diplomat; and in the military. He is editor of three magazines: the New Zealand Security Magazine, the Line of Defence Magazine and Fire NZ Magazine. He has regularly contributed to debates on New Zealand security specifically and the security sector generally. 

Pablo Colombres, a lawyer by background, is a leading figure in security not just in Latin America but Globally too. He has a particular passion for investigations (especially financial/cybercrime), and leadership. In addition to running his own business based in Brazil, he is on the Board of ASIS International and in 2027 will become its first ever President from the LATAM region. 

Professor Paul Ekblom is a leading authority on crime and its prevention. He has committed his career to developing frameworks and toolkits that can be used to guiding the work of security practitioners. After a career as a criminological researcher at the UK Home Office, he was appointed Professor of Design Against Crime at the University of the Arts London (UAL) based in the Design Against Crime Research Centre (now Design Against Crime Research Lab), Central Saint Martins. Paul Harvey is an Executive Board Director and shareholder at Ward.  He is actively involved in initiatives to counter terrorism and to advancing security as a profession. Dr Rajiv Mathur, based in India, has a background in business technology solutions and guarding. He is widely known as an entrepreneur, seasoned security professional, author of two books, and the creator/host of a YouTube talk show. Sarah Miller is a winner of a Global OSPA, in the Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director category. Sarah set out to avoid working in security, initially a career in the arts beckoned, and then law enforcement seemed more enticing but security prevailed. Sarah, based in Canada, is a teacher as well as an operations director of a security company operating in diverse environments.

Professor Shane D Johnson MBE has published over 150 articles. He is the director of the Dawes Centre for Future Crime at University College London, and co-director of two doctoral training centres on Cybersecurity and Cyber Physical Risks. His work takes place under the umbrella of a relatively new area of work, ‘crime science’. 

Simon Banks is a high-profile security entrepreneur. He started work in the area of alarm signalling and went on to develop one of the UK largest IOT critical connectivity providers. He has invested in other ventures including Skills for Security. Amongst his many other ventures he has started his own Foundation (The Banks Foundation) which is a Founding supporter of the Security and Safety Entrepreneur Awards (SSEAs).

Sissel H. Jore is a Professor in Risk Management and Societal Safety at the University of Stavanger, Norway. She is a recognised global expert for her varied research interests which includes terrorism, counterterrorism, security risk management, and risk perception. Jore is the chair of the Security Defence Speciality Group and is an elected board member of the Nordic Society for Risk Analysis. She has made presentations and been a session chair at many international conferences.

Terry didn't think there was anything inevitable in his early childhood that would lead to him becoming a persistent priority offender in his mid teens. Led by older boys and attracted by the high rewards of fraud, theft and commercial burglary he saw little value in legitimate pursuits and never felt the counsellors appointed to help him were realistic. Eventually he ended up in prison and there developed a drug habit. That governed the next stage of his life, on his release his crimes were driven by the need to pay for drugs. Shoplifting was more lucrative than many alternatives and carried less risks, and drug dealing provided him with access to what he most valued. Nine more prison sentences followed, and then, when he decided enough was enough, drug barons took exception and he suffered multiple stab wounds. Tim McCreight has worked in IT and physical security for nearly four decades. He has been closely associated with developing the theory and practice of Enterprise Security, indeed he considers himself an ESRM evangelist. He has a Masters degree in Security and Risk Management, is an experienced podcaster on security and risk issues, and is the immediate past President of ASIS International.

Victoria Ekhmou is an experienced security professional having started work in security in the early 1990s and is now one of the leading authorities on security in Africa. She is Board Certified by the Professional Certification Board of ASIS International as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and has expertise in a range of specialisms including guarding and counter-terrorism expert. She manages her own business which extends overseas. Victoria is a prolific volunteer and has held a range of positions in different security associations, and also a multi award winner (including Lifetime Achievement at the Nigeria OSPAs).

Wale Olaoye has recently won two Global OSPAs including ‘Outstanding Security Company’ while Wale himself has been entered into the Security Hall of Fame.  He has been CEO of Halogen based in Nigeria since 2008.
