Dr David Naysadorai is a security professional and academic from Malaysia. He started his security career in banking and later gained a Master’s Degree in Management (specialising in security) and a Doctor of Business Administration (specialising in the governance and professionalization of private security). In December 2020 he received the Leadership Award of Excellence from the Global Academics Research Academy.

In this discussion you will hear David discussing his perspective on the Malaysian security sector characterised on the one hand by a lack of strong central governance, and on the other major institutions being able to employ private personnel with full police powers for use in their private space. David outlines his own thoughts on the key barriers to progress.

At the end of the podcast David addresses the three questions we ask all our guests: which person has most influenced you, which book has most influenced you, and what is the priority issue the security sector needs to focus on to change for the better?
